Farming and Ranching can be an excellent way to use energy to “grow”.  It is one way that many veterans and families are finding that may offer great benefit in dealing with challenges and create opportunity from them!  Below, you will find a list that has been shared with us that may offer unique and indirect ways of transformation and healing.

ATTRA Sustainable farming for military and veterans.  Farmers and ranchers are looking for reliable information on sustainable and organic agriculture, on how to get started in farming, on how to qualify for government programs that reward land stewardship and resource conservation, and on how to pursue such profitable niche markets as organic meats and grains or agriculture tourism. The answers to these and many other similar questions are available free from an NCAT program called ATTRA – Sustainable Agriculture.

Farmer Veteran Coalition http://www.farmvetco.org/ The mission of the Farmer Veteran Coalition is to mobilize veterans to feed America. They cultivate a new generation of farmers and food leaders, and develop viable employment and meaningful careers through the collaboration of the farming and military communities. They believe that veterans possess the unique skills and character needed to strengthen rural communities and create sustainable food systems for all. They believe that food production offers purpose, opportunity, as well as physical and psychological benefits.

Veterans to Farmers www.veteranstofarmers.org/  Veterans to Farmers offers opportunities for veterans who have sacrificed so much. Their curriculum and community provide ways to recover, learn, and move forward by becoming our providers and contributing to the solution of our aging farmer problem.
